Background
The webinar on Data Governance Legal Framework is organized by the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA), through Division for Public Institutions and Digital Government (DPIDG) and its Project Office on Governance (UNPOG). The webinar will be held virtually on 14 July 2026 from 15:00 - 16:00 Seoul, KST. The Webinar will officialy launch the Handbook on Data Governance Legal Framework, developed by UN DESA. The Handbook is grounded in UN DESA's National Data Governance Framework and presents a structured, principles-based approach - seven core elements (data standardization and classification; sharing; interoperability; security and protection; privacy and ethics; infrastructure; digital identity; AI automation) across four pollars (policy, institutions, people, process), aligned with SDG 16 principles of effectiveness, accountability, and inclusiveness.
