INTRODUCTION
Background
The United Nations Project on Governance (UNPOG), under the Division for Public Institutions and Digital Government (DPIDG) of the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA), in collaboration with the Ministry of the Interior and Safety (MOIS) and Incheon Metropolitan City of the Republic of Korea, will organise the 8th Youth Forum on SDG Implementation on Advocating Young People as Digital Innovators to Realize the SDGs to ensure that young people are provided with necessary support and digital skills to mobilise the advancement of the SDGs, and continuously give them a platform to be heard.
 
The 8th Youth Forum on SDG Implementation will be held virtually via Zoom on 6 September 2024 at 13:00 – 17:30 Seoul, GMT+9. It will continue to host the Ideas for Change Contest to engage young people from Asia and the Pacific, East Africa and beyond on the discussion of the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and provide young people the platform and the opportunity to be heard by their peers and representatives from different UN agencies and other institutions.
 
Objectives
The 8th Youth Forum on SDG Implementation: Advocating Young People as Digital Innovators to Realize the SDGs will aim to bring together youths from Asia and the Pacific, East Africa, and beyond to:
  • Engage young people in meaningful discussions and encourage them to share innovative ideas and green solutions to realise the SDGs.
  • Develop youth consciousness, creativity, and ability to take responsibility for their actions to promote and achieve the SDGs.
  • Provide a platform for young people to be heard and bring innovative ideas and solutions to issues that matter to them.
