Ms. Hyeyoung Kim
Ms. Hyeyoung Kim is the Head of Office of the United Nations Project Office on Governance (UNPOG), which is an integral part of the Division for Public Institutions and Digital Government (DPIDG) of the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA).
Since her appointment on 1 February 2024, Ms. Kim has been dedicated to contributing to strengthening public administration capacities in developing Member States to advance the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. She brings to the office extensive experience in digital government development, personal information protection, ICT infrastructure security and administrative information sharing as well as civil service ethics. Prior to joining the United Nations, Ms. Kim served as the Senior Vice President of the National Information Society Agency (NIA) of the Republic of Korea. Ms. Kim also held various senior positions at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety (MOIS) of the Republic of Korea including Director General for Personal Information Protection Policy of E-Government Bureau and Director General for Administrative Information Sharing Policy. Her diverse roles include Director General for Protocol and State Council, Director General for Administration Information Sharing Policy of E-Government Bureau, Director of Public Officials Ethics Division and Director of Information Culture Division at MOIS. Ms. Kim also served as the Head of Planning and Coordination Office of the Korean Local Government Information Development Agency (KLID).
Ms. Kim has extensive international experience, having served as Director of the International Organizations Division and Director of Bilateral Cooperation Division at the Ministry of Information and Communication of the Republic of Korea.
During her 38 years of public service with the Government of the Republic of Korea, Ms. Kim has contributed to digital government innovation, open government and public service innovation. Ms. Kim holds a degree of Master of Science in Technical Communication from Colorado State University.
