DPIDG/UNPOG participated in the 3rd Forum on Carbon Neutrality Goals of China, Japan, and the Republic of Korea jointly organised by ESCAP and the Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat (TCS). The Forum aimed to serve as a hub for exchange of policies, measures, and practices in various cross-cutting sectors among high-level government officials, experts, and international organizations in China, Japan, and the Republic of Korea to ensure the pathway to carbon neutrality. The Forum underscored harnessing digital innovation and its potential for enhancing the efficiency of implementing measures aimed at achieving carbon neutrality.
The Head of Office moderated Session 3 on “Ensuring Just Transition in Achieving Carbon Neutrality Goals,” which discussed the concept of just transition, the role of stakeholders, and its relationship to achieving the carbon neutrality goals. The event featured speakers such as the Special Adviser to the Secretary-General on Climate Action and Just Transition, as well as representatives from various international organizations, national and local governments, private sectors, and academia.
