Second Webinar on Developing a Strategic Foresight Ecosystem in Chitral, Pakistan (6 December 2023, Virtual)

DPIDG and UNPOG jointly contributed to the second webinar on “Developing a Strategic Foresight Ecosystem in Chitral, Pakistan”, organized by the Planning and Development Department of the Provincial Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. The webinar is being organized in response to the request from UN RCO in Pakistan to develop a roadmap and action plan to strengthen institutional and organizational capacities for strategic foresight in support of the government of Chitral District to implement the SDGs. The webinar aimed to discuss trends, scenario development, and governance architecture to sustain a culture of foresight into policy decision-making for the future for the Chitral Valley. Representatives of the Chitral District Government, including officials in urban planning, forestry, economy, etc. relevant resident UN agencies including UNDP, non-governmental organizations at the local levels, and academia and professors from local universities took part in the webinar. This webinar will be a catalyst to frame the organization of an actual face-to-face workshop in April 2024 for a big group of stakeholders to develop scenarios, a vision for the future, and a roadmap to identify the strategic steps to take to embed strategic foresight in strategic planning.
