DPIDG/UNPOG paid a courtesy visit to Anyang City to discuss Mayor Choi Dae-ho’s potential participation in the Local Governance and Partnerships Forum during the upcoming Regional Symposium. Anyang, a 600,000 population city near Seoul, is developing international recognition for its smart city project that has been implemented since 2003. This initiative began with the Bus Information System to enhance citizen’s convenience at first, and has been expanding its domain into a wider Intelligent Transport System as well as crime and disaster prevention, where the city’s cases were captured in the United for Smart Sustainable Cities (U4SSC).
UNPOG introduced the upcoming Regional Symposium to which Mayor Choi agreed to attend and present. Both organizations agreed to explore further platforms for cooperation in 2025 following the Local Governance and Partnerships Forum.
