On 7-9 December, DPIDG/UNPOG delivered a session on Youth Actions for Climate Change and Risk Management, as well as led group activities and plenary discussions during the
Workshop on Youth Engagement in Institution Building and Public Services Delivery for Sustainable Development After the Pandemic held in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, for a group of 65 young people. This Workshop was organized by DPIDG in collaboration with the Ministry for Youth Professional Insertion and Civic Engagement, the National Youth Council, as well as UNDP and UNFPA in Côte d’Ivoire. It also involved other relevant national stakeholders from government institutions, non-government organizations (NGOs), civil society and academia. The session aimed to build the capacity of the participating youth in the fundamental concepts of disaster risk reduction and enable them as
agents of change to play an informed and positive role in their communities through advocacy and knowledge sharing. It facilitated an in-depth discussion on the significance of youth action and engagement for climate action and risk management through risk-informed governance and innovation for SDG implementation.
