DPIDG/UNPOG received a visit from the UNODC-KOSTAT Centre of Excellence for Statistics on Crime and Criminal Justice in Asia and the Pacific to discuss potential collaboration between the two organizations. The UNODC-KOSTAT CoE provides and organizes technical assistance and training activities to support countries in the region to improve statistical methodologies and technical capabilities with respect to the production, collection, analysis, and dissemination of crime and criminal justice data as the basis for evidence-based policymaking. DPIDG/UNPOG provided an overview of DPIDG/UNPOG’s mandate and programme activities. The UNODC-KOSTAT discussed policy utilization related to SDG16, the development and application of effective indicators in the Asia-Pacific region. UNODC-KOSTAT expressed their interest in attending the upcoming 9th Regional Symposium and other future activities of DPIDG/UNPOG. Both organizations agreed to explore potential cooperation.
