
DPIDG/UNPOG participated in the GovInsider Festival of Innovation and the GovMesh side event, joining government representatives from Japan, Indonesia, Azerbaijan, Singapore, and the Republic of Korea to exchange good practices in leveraging AI technologies for public sector innovation and digital readiness. Discussions focused on strategies to foster lasting positive change, build a culture of innovation, and streamline government operations for greater impact. The Pact for the Future and key findings from the UN DESA 2024 E-Government Survey were also shared with participants. DPIDG/UNPOG also moderated a session on sustaining a culture of innovation in the public sector, exploring effective strategies to overcome challenges and improve service delivery.
A key theme throughout the event was the future of digital transformation and AI in government. A dedicated session on Agentic AI underscored the importance of human oversight, regulatory frameworks, two-way communication, and building robust systems and data infrastructures to support AI agents—key pillars for the next wave of public sector innovation. Singapore’s Senior Minister of State and Deputy Secretary-General of NTUC emphasized the transformative impact of AI, super apps, e-commerce, and virtual connectivity in reshaping citizen expectations and raising the bar for public service excellence.
