DPIDG, in collaboration with the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, organized the International Seminar on Public Sectors and Public Services. The seminar emphasized that sustainable development relies heavily on robust public sectors and enhanced public service capacity. Key highlights from the World Public Sector Report 2023 outlined the public sector's role and challenges in advancing sustainable development. UNPOG addressed the interconnectedness of sustainable development, governance, and AI-driven public administration.
The seminar underscored that strong public sectors and active interaction between government and citizens are essential for achieving the SDGs. Discussions also focused on cross-regional cooperation, sharing insights on public administration standards of excellence and trends in interlocal collaboration for service delivery in China. Emphasis was placed on policy coordination, service integration, and information sharing as ways to enhance efficiency and create a cooperative environment. Digital innovation was highlighted as a crucial driver of public sector reform and service enhancement. The seminar featured discussions on Korea’s Digital Platform Government as an example of effective governance and Shanghai’s use of digital technology to improve public service delivery.
