International Disaster Resilience Leaders Forum Incheon 2024 (28 October 2024, Incheon, Republic of Korea)

DPIDG/UNPOG staff contributed to the 2024 International Disaster Resilience Leaders Forum, which focused on capacity development for local governments in disaster risk reduction and multi-stakeholder efforts to build disaster-resilient communities and support sustainable development. The May 2023 Political Declaration on the Sendai Framework Midterm Review highlights the need to strengthen capacity development across all priority areas, including enhanced disaster risk governance and access to technology. In this context, DPIDG/UNPOG moderated a session, sharing the 11 Principles of Effective Governance for Sustainable Development, particularly Subsidiarity, along with the Guidance Note on Enhancement of Local Capacity for Prevention, Adaptation and Mitigation of External Shocks. It also introduced the Curriculum on Governance for SDGs, emphasizing DPIDG’s eLearning course on Risk-Informed Governance and Innovative Technology for DRR and Resilience.
