DPIDG/UNPOG was invited to deliver a video lecture for a new e-learning course entitled “Becoming Global Citizens for a Sustainable Society” organized by the Ban Ki Moon Centre for Global Citizens and UNESCO APCIEU.
The lecture focused on the SDGs and citizen engagement in governance for sustainable consumption and production. It called for more engagement in democratic governance—including through voting and political participation—which can ensure that policies are crafted in line with the goals of youth today. The key message was only if youth and citizens engage in the governance process can the polices to support the SDGs happen in a participatory way.
UNESCO APCIEU has developed multiple online learning courses and has a fully equipped studio. They expressed willingness to cooperate with DPIDG/UNPOG on more e-learning courses related to citizen engagement and youth engagement in governance for the SDGs as their primary mandate is to cultivate global citizens. The entire platform is available here on the "Online Campus"
