CAPACITY DEVELOPMENT

Capacity Building Training Workshop on E-Government Development in Pacific SIDS November 09, 2015

The Capacity-Building Training Workshop on "E-Government Development in Pacific Small Island Developing States (PSIDS)" took place in Suva, Fiji from 5 to 7 November 2015. The Workshop is organized by the Division for Public Administration and Development Management (DPADM) of the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN-DESA), through the United Nations Project Office on Governance (UNPOG), in collaboration with the Government of Fiji. There were around 60 participants from 10 countries. This event is a follow-up to the first training workshop for SIDS, held last February in Seoul, Republic of Korea.

The main purpose of the Workshop is to strengthen the capacity of the PSIDS in the field of e-government development by providing a venue for Chief Information Officers (CIOs) and e-government officials in the PSIDS to exchange views on emerging issues and trends of e-government development and innovative practices in the Pacific region. Participants are expected to learn about and discuss: i) trends, common features and main challenges of e-government development in the PSIDS; ii) policies and good practices of ICT and e-government for sustainable development, including enterprise architecture, disaster risk management, e-ID management, m-Health and e-Learning; and iii) e-applications relevant to the PSIDS.
