Contribution to a Virtual Session during the ITU Generation Connect Global Youth Summit 2022 (4 June 2022) June 10, 2022
 
In 4 June 2022, one DPIDG/UNPOG staff was invited to participate in the ITU Generation Connect Global Youth Summit 2022 and deliver a thematic presentation on “Digital Technologies for Promoting Youth Participation in Public Governance: Opportunities & Challenges" during the virtual session “Masterclass #5: In the shoes of a digital policymaker”. The Session discussion was centered on five thematic focus of the Internet Governance Forum 2022, i.e., i) Connecting all people and safeguarding human rights; ii) Avoiding Internet fragmentation; iii) Governing data and protecting privacy; iv) Enabling safety, security and accountability; and v) Addressing advanced technologies, including AI.
 
The three-day ITU Global Youth Summit, held on 2-4 June 2022 in Kigali, Rwanda, aimed to address the digital divide and related topics, including digital skills, gender, climate change, online safety, the future of work, entrepreneurship, digital dependencies. UNPOG’s participation in the ITU Global Youth Summit provided a valuable opportunity to interact with youth participants and learn about their thoughts and experiences on the important issues of Internet governance.
