Head of UNPOG, Mr. Chae Gun Chung, was invited to Cheonan City to deliver a special lecture on “Local Government, SDGs, and Public Morality” on 3 July 2017.

The audience was 900 city officials from Cheonan City and Mr. Chung, as a former government official with 34 years of service, shared his rich experience both in central and local government.

Also, as Head of UNPOG, he promoted UN’s role in maintaining international peace and security, developing friendly relations among nations and promoting social progress, better living standards and human rights. Then, he presented UNPOG’s contribution in achieving UN’s mission including internationally agreed development goals such as MDGs and SDGs. 

In addition, Mr. Chung emphasized the importance of local governance in advancing the SDGs, especially in terms of inclusiveness. Based on his expertise on local governance, Mr. Chung urged that Cheonan City shall also deliver its services based on the key principle of the SDGs, leaving no one behind.
