Opening Ceremony of UNPOG New Premises December 01, 2017
United Nations Project Office on Governance (UNPOG) (Head: Mr. Chae Gun Chung) organized its Incheon Office Launching Ceremony on December 1st, 2017. This event was to celebrate the relocation of UNPOG's office from Seoul to Songdo, Incheon. 
 
The relocation of the office to Songdo is deemed to be an opportunity to further strengthen UNPOG's collaboration with other international organizations that are located in Songdo. Also, the office relocation is expected to provide an occasion for UNPOG to further strengthen its cooperation with local governments in the SDGs implementation, which is the main mandate of the Office.
 
For this Opening Ceremony, around 150 Korean and foreign guests, including Mr. Liu Zhenmin, the Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs of the United Nations, Mr. Kim Boo Kyum, Minister of the Interior and Safety, and Mr. Yoo Jeong-bok, Mayor of Incheon Metropolitan City, have attended and celebrated UNPOG's office relocation.
 
The UN Under-Secretary-General Mr. Liu Zhenmin stated in his congratulatory remarks, "I expect that UNPOG plays a more crucial role in developing training programmes and study tours on SDGs implementation, and sharing best practices of SDGs implementation in the Asia-Pacific as well as Eastern African regions, by strengthening its cooperation with DPADM and UN DESA." 
 
Minister Kim Boo Kyum of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety of the Republic of Korea, who also participated in the Ceremony, mentioned, "Although UNPOG is an international organization, I look forward to more opportunities for sharing Korea's best practices in SDGs implementation with the international community, by fully uitilizing its location in Korea. I also expect that UNPOG actively contributes to the SDGs implementation by local governments." 
 
Also, Mr. Yoo Jeong-bok, Mayor of Incheon Metropolitan City, stated, "Incheon welcomes the UNPOG's office relocation to Songdo. Incheon will provide necessary supports to UNPOG, so that UNPOG can settle well in Songdo and strengthen its collaboration with other international organizations."

In addition, Mr. Chae Gun Chung, Head of UNPOG, has stated, "I extend my sincere appreciation to all participants who joined the Ceremony. UNPOG will put its utmost efforts to not only facilitate SDGs implementation of developing countries, but also promote implementation of the SDGs by local governments, by actively collaborating with the Korean government."
