CAPACITY DEVELOPMENT

Participation in Shanghai Learning Conference, Shanghai, People’s Republic of China February 01, 2019
UNDESA/UNPOG co-organized the Learning Conference on the “Holistic Approaches for Implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in the Asia-Pacific region”.  This international event took place in Shanghai, People’s Republic of China, from 23 to 24 January 2019. It was co-organized by the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA), the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) and the UNITAR CIFAL Shanghai International Training Center, with the support of the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences (SASS).
 
A total of 99 participants attended the conference from 21 countries from Asia- Pacific, and African regions, including UN agency experts, government officials and private sector/civil society. The conference provided the opportunity to discuss the challenges and possible solutions for achieving sustainable development in the Asia-Pacific region. It also offered a platform to share mechanisms and good practices that exist for planning, monitoring, evaluating and financing the achievement of the SDGs, both at the national and local levels.
