Participation in Open Government Partnership Asia-Pacific Regional Meeting November 08, 2018

UNPOG participated in Open Government Partnership (OGP) Asia-Pacific Regional Meeting held on 5-6 November 2018 in Seoul, Republic of Korea. In the Meeting, government leaders and practitioners from the Asia-Pacific gathered to raise collective ambition and generate new political support for promoting participatory democracy, improving governance for a better life for all, and renewing public trust through government innovation.

The Head of UNPOG served as a panelist during a parallel session on “Strengthening Governance through Inclusivity: Integration of Leaving No One Behind in the Sustainable Development Agenda” organized by the Asia Democracy Network in partnership with the Asia Development Alliance during the Open Government Partnership’s Asia-Pacific Regional Meeting on 6 November 2018. Mr. Chung delivered a presentation on how the work of UNPOG contributes to promoting inclusive governance and ensuring that no one is left behind. He provided concrete examples of best practices by governments, international organizations and multi-stakeholder partnerships in promoting inclusive SDG implementation, monitoring and review processes.

UNPOG staff also attended the two-day OGP Regional Meeting, which provided a valuable opportunity to learn about various cases of open government under the themes of promoting participatory democracy, improving governance for a better life for all, and renewing public trust through government innovation. UNPOG staff took this opportunity to build networks with other experts and participants, who were mainly government reformers and civil society leaders from over 50 countries.
