UNPOG Session in Jeju Forum May 30, 2014
United Nations Project Office on Governance organised a session on “E-Government for the Future We Want: Trends of Development in Asia” in Jeju Forum for Peace and Prosperity 2014. The overall theme for this year’s Jeju Forum is “Designing New Asia” and UNPOG’s session dealt with the innovative measures of e-Government and public administration that could contribute to designing new Asia.
 
During the session which took place on 29 May 2014, UNPOG Head, Mr. Lim delivered welcoming remarks, followed by two presentations. The first presentation covered the UN E-Government Survey with focus on the new trends and emerging challenges in Asia and the Pacific region, and the second presentation was on success factors and future plan of Korea’s e-government.
 
After the presentations, the expert panelists actively shared their rich experiences, profound knowledge and innovative insights on e-government. They also had an in-depth discussion on the innovative measures and effective policy strategies of e-Government and public administration that could contribute to designing new, peaceful and prosperous Asia.
 
The expert panelists include: 

Ms. Su-jin Chun, Reporter from JoongAng Ilbo/Daily;
Mr. Tumennast Erdenebold, Former Deputy Director from Information Communications Technology and Post Authority of Mongolia;
Professor Pan Suk Kim from Yonsei University;
Professor Youngmi Kim from Sangmyung University;
Associate Professor Mixia Liu from Chinese Academy of Governance; and
Mr. Je-guk Park, Director General of E-Government Bureau from Ministry of Security and Public Administration of Korea.
