Turkish Delegation’s Visit to UNPOG March 24, 2015
Turkish e-government delegation visited UNPOG on 23 March 2015 as the first visit place during their one-week study tour in Korea. The delegation was headed by Mr. KILIÇ (Head of e-Government Department, Ministry of Transportation, Maritime Affairs and Communication ) with 6 experts from the Ministry and Tubitak (government-owned research organisation) joining the delegation.

The meeting started with Mr. Lim's opening remarks which covers UNPOG's e-government development activities as a subsidiary organ of UNDESA since its establishment in 2006, followed by Mr. Kilic's remarks on explaining the delegation's visit to UNPOG. Then Keping provided a presentation on "2016 UN E-Government Survey" dealing with its preparation process through open and participatory method, evaluation methodologies, relation to sustainable development, regional consultative meetings summary and so on.

The delegation expressed its strong interest on the Survey, particularly new features to be possibly included in the forthcoming Survey.  In particular, the delegation asked for recommendations for Turkish e-government development in terms of moving up the ranking. UNPOG in this regard suggested that urgent policy agendas should be accurately identified and then put into action in order not to duplicate works. UNPOG also suggested that Turkey need to review all the data used in the Survey such as telecommunication infrastructure and human capital index, for the Survey to correctly reflect the data.

The delegation also asked for cooperation opportunity between Turkey and UNPOG. In line with this, UNPOG suggested the delegation to provide further information on Turkey's current e-government status and also to send its letter of cooperation wish to eGB in NY for further consultation. Two sides agreed to stay in contact for future cooperation.
